Onboarding Platform 2.0 roadmap

This is the plan to put our first journey, the IKEA SE credit card, into production. The configurator comes first, with a demo every month until mid-January. The MVP is feature complete on 26 Feb and goes live on 8 Mar 2027. The rest of the backlog follows by 22 Mar 2027.

Plan as of 1 October 2026 · JIRA project ON

Team

Six people, including three new hires who start on 2 November. All figures are working days left after meetings, support and reviews.

Add, move and edit steps with undo and autosave, in the Ikano visual style. Roles and permissions apply, and journeys can be duplicated and versioned. The expression language and validation rules run underneath.

Christmas demo. Live validation, the dataflow view, path preview and the expression editor. A draft can be run in the portal with a screen preview. Includes the accessibility pass and a scripted demo walkthrough.

Publish & run

Approve and publish a journey, with version diff, segregation of duties and an audit log. The published journey then runs on Temporal: synchronous interpreter core, mock adapters, and the command and state API.

Live in production

The IKEA SE credit card, end to end. Applicants apply on the web, are identified and checked (KYC, fraud, AML), get a credit decision and a priced offer, sign, and get their agreement and account. It runs through all 11 capability adapters, behind a routing flag so the share of applications can grow. Feature complete on 26 Feb.

Who does what

Work goes by experience. Emma owns the core model that everything depends on. The backend hires take the interpreter, the forms service and most adapters. The frontend hire takes the configurator UI first, then the web client. Bernard takes the portal, approvals and adapter contracts with the other teams. Felix takes library views, settings and adapter parity tests, and pairs on infrastructure.

Assumptions

  • 1 story point is 1 day. Whole days only, at least 1.
  • Everyone works at 80% focus, which covers meetings, support and incidents. Bernard is half-time hands-on. Emma’s time includes reviews and mentoring. Felix has a lighter load while ramping up, with pairing time built in.
  • All three hires start on 2 November and ramp up over two sprints: 40% in the first, then 80%.
  • The Christmas break is 21 December to 6 January. Easter shortens 27Q1S7.
  • The current sprint (26Q4S1) finishes the infrastructure in progress. It isn’t counted as capacity.
  • The MVP is the IKEA SE credit card on the web, with the reference web client as the production front end. Co-applicants aren’t in the MVP (Q40 in the journey configuration).
  • Modules other teams own, such as the systems behind the capability adapters and the referral portal, are ready when we need them.
  • Production readiness (13 days) is planned here but has no tickets yet. It covers the environment, a security review, runbooks, an end-to-end test and go-live.

Risks and what they need

  • Little slack before 8 Mar. The adapter chain sets the go-live date: contract, implementation, parity tests, end-to-end test, then go-live. About 30 days before go-live go to post-MVP stories, mostly while the end-to-end test runs. That time is the buffer for fixes. A late start for the new hires would move the date.
  • Referral comes after the MVP. Until our referral step is built, applications that need manual review are either declined or stay on the legacy path. This needs a product decision.
  • Data comes after go-live. Retention and deletion (ON-278) and reporting to the data platform (ON-277) follow the MVP. Retention must be in place before the first retention deadline.
  • Bank release steps. The security review, any penetration test and change approval have lead times outside the team. Book them in January.
  • Review is the bottleneck. ON-24 to ON-29 have been in Review for three sprints. A team rule helps, for example review within a day.
  • Current sprint. ON-21 (EKS) blocks ON-22, and there are 3 working days left. If it slips, M1 moves with it.
  • Sign-in and design. ON-198 needs an Entra ID app registration in 26Q4S3. ON-192 needs design input by early November.
